We can’t afford complacency as the EDL turn to the ballot box

The EDL's announcement on Friday of plans to create its own political party - the Freedom Party - could be read as just the latest evidence of fissure and fragmentation on the far-right.

The EDL entry will further split an already thinly spread extremist vote and we can all sleep a little more soundly. But division on the far-right disguises the forward march of ethnic-nationalist ideology in many working-class communities.
